Very 1st Sewing Project - EVAH!!

Hello & Happy Last Week of September Everyone!!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
I did some crafting... Trying to make a small
pillow case... had to wait for a Zipper foot to
arrive in order for me to sew it - :)

Last week I told you I was trying to learn how to sew
and I'm self teaching myself... YIKES!!! The sewing
machine SCARES the crap out of me and I always feel
very intimidated by it - I had like 3 sewing machines all given
to me (I never asked for them - MIL & Mom gave them to me)
I did sell one of them & I still have 1 that needs
a couple small parts, and I got another
one that is sorta a newer model... (not really)
but newer than the other ones I did have!

Any who - I told you I would Share my
Fall Place mats that I created - Now I can tell you, right off the
bat, that I knew I messed up the corners - they are not square
like they're suppose to be - partly because I SUCK at cutting!
I can totally admit it - which is why they are ALL off! LOL
If you notice the seam is also crazy crooked!
I apparently can't sew straight! hahaha :)
I did get a little better with each mat - (according to my mom anyway)
I decided to double stitch each mat because... Well....
It's ME who is sewing these things and I know they will
fall apart! tehehehe

Anyway.. here are the Fall place mats I made
all by myself as my very first sewing project!
I'm totally cool with any comments you may have
as I know I have a loooong way to go in learning!
I've already bought more material to try making Christmas
place mats - so let's see if I get any better! hahahha

All the Material was from Walmart - I thought I would
start out with so so material, before buying the good stuff! ;)

I also purchased an apron pattern (from Joann's) -
I'm not really gonna try that one on my own..
My mom said she would cut the pattern out for me
(Thank Goodness) & my son Hunter has been learning to sew
at school and has already made an apron (I'll share it when
he finally brings it home) - So, I've enlisted his help! (Wink Wink)

Maybe I will like sewing? So far it's not to bad since I know
I'm not that good at it! I need to work on cutting more
accurately since I'm really bad at! :)

After all my Jibber Jabber about sewing -
I think I'll share a card with you tomorrow!

Thanks for stopping by & sharing your
thoughts & comments with me!

Have a FABULOUSLY Crafty Day!!!!

Theresa

Way to go stepping out of your comfort zone! These are great and everyone has to start somewhere, right? I dabble here and there and have mostly made some blankets and bibs for my grandbabies. I recently made some napkins and placemats and while they are imperfect, I like that I made them. It's fun to step out of your comfort one. http://www.youcanmakethis.com/ has a lot of ideas and there are step-by=step instructions and patterns with the projects. They have sales off and on, too, which makes it even better, There are so many other places on the net. It's amazing what you can find. I would love to try to make an apron, I cannot wait to see yours! I will have to step out of my comfort zone and give it a go here in the new future.

oh, here's another site that has great ideas and free tutorials. I get the emails and like her on fb, but honestly haven't made the time to try anything, although I have a lot of the projects bookmarked.

Congrats on finishing your first sewing project. Beautiful material and perfect for the holidays.

You will get better and better with each projects. Here is a link about a magnetic thing that will help up get perfect lines. You can buy different brands they all work the same and really cheap. I have seen these at JoAnns and Amazon. Walmart may carry them as well.

Awesome I say! I only sew things with straight lines...lol... and lately nothing... I would like to use real stitching on my projects but I don't even own a sewing machine any more... These are beautiful!
