Motorcycle Birthday!

Happy Tuesday Everyone! I hope you are having a wonderful day so far! I'm making out my monthly grocery list right now... UGH! I live in a really small town and the nearest Wally world is about an hour away, sooo I make out a Monthly food calendar and plan all my meals out, then make the shopping list... It is a task in itself but the result on my monthly grocery bill is awesome! Some people think I'm crazy for shopping that way. But it saves on gas and knowing what my family is eating daily instead of wondering what to fix each night works for me.... Doing this trip once a month I only fill up my gas tank once and it lasts me ALL month long... and I have an SUV.. :) I guess that's enough chit chat for now.... On with the card info! I seen a simple sketch in my Paper Crafts Mag. and thought this card would work well with it.... Of course I changed a couple simple things to make it more me... :)

Donuts, Donuts, Donuts...

Happy Thursday Everyone! I don't have a card for ya....but I have my donut story to tell...:) Ok, so like I said yesterday I was trying to make homemade donuts.... And the recipe that I had gotten from recipes.com (I think) was suppose to be rather easy (so I thought)..... The recipe said you can make the dough in your bread machine and I thought GREAT! And the reviews were just under 5 stars soooo I thought noooo problem... this should be great right.... WRONG!!! Ok I tried to make my first batch the day before yesterday and it took longer than what the recipe says.... according to the recipe it should take a total of 1 hr. 35 min. to make... well my dough cycle is 1hr. 24 min. and that's the 1lb. setting... ok sooo after doing all of that I have to let it rise....well my donuts would not rise very much and I fried them anyway and that's how we got our BRONUTS! You know bread/donut blend.... at least that's what my son said... Sooo I was going to try it again that day and then my Bread Machine decided not to work..... seriously! Sooo I started to freak out and went online to see if there was a fix for it.... well come to find out that my particular machine has an electronic glitch??? HUMMM Didn't know that and I've had this machine for like 3 yrs. now... anyway they said to let it sit over night and see if it works... and sure enough today I got my machine working again! YEAH!!! Ok... so I proceed to put the ingredients in again thinking I had it set on the 2lb. dough instead of the 1lb. and that was my problem... NOPE! I made my second batch and it came out the same as the first! I was like WTHeck???? SOOO This time I tried it by adding bread flour instead of the all purpose flour it called for and I didn't wait an additional 20 mins. like it said I just rolled out the dough and then let it rise 30 min. in my oven at 175 degrees... and well that seemed to work... here is a picture of the dough after I got it to FINALLY RISE!  :)

Ok the recipe said I can make 16 donuts...do you see 16 donuts? NOOO of course not... I got (9) 3 1/2" good ones and (1) 2 1/2" one and then a SAD ball my hubby said to make... :)
More pictures below...

This is what they looked like after I fried them up in my deep fryer... a nice golden brown.. I was starting to get happy they looked like donuts! :) well sort of anyway! hehehe

Then I used a glaze recipe I found online as well.... the glaze recipe said I could glaze 25 donuts...well I got to glaze these with it and that's it! I guess if I were only to glaze the tops I might have gotten more with that...but I didn't have more... hehehe
More pictures below....

This is my cute 7 year old trying out Moms donuts for the first time....

This is my 15yr. old son giving me the thumbs up on my donut.... :) Even thought this took me 3 tries to get it somewhat right...  I think I will try another recipe I seen online to see if that makes a difference.... It won't be in my bread machine this next time... but I think I'm done trying to make donuts for the rest of this week.... I know once I get the hang of it they will get better... Just like anything else we try and do, the more we do it the better we will be... Stay tuned for the next exciting episode of Donut Making 101! LOL - I hope you all have a terrific day, I know I will! :)

Baby Card/Challenge

Hello Everyone! Happy Wednesday to you all! Tuesday was a somewhat busy day.... I was trying (Key word TRYING) LOL
to make Homemade donuts for the first time ever!  Well, let's just say I'm nooo Betty Crocker! LOL
I mean I love to cook and bake... but I've never tried homemade donuts before and I found this recipe online and thought... Hey I can do that!
Well I spent a lot of time making these supposedly easy donuts and well.... lets just say they were tasty bread holes! LOL
My middle son referred to them as BRONUTS as in bread and donut shaped together..... they were tasty for bread only....
My hubby called them fried bread soooo I shall try again today.... and if all goes well I'll post a picture of my accomplishment! Keeping fingers crossed! LOL
Anyway onto today's card! It is a sketch for Mojo Monday #143, Here is the link and the photo in case you would like to try and make the sketch:   http://mojomonday.blogspot.com/

Here's my card:

I made this Baby card using my Stampin' Up supplies and my wonderful Cricut Expression Machine! :)
The Cartridge is New Arrival and I cut the baby bottle out at 3" including the shadow feature... the words are computer Generated, I used the Cuttlebug & the Swiss Dots Embossing folder, added some bling to the sentiment and a little inking and there ya go a cute baby card ready for a boy or a girl! :) Thanks for taking a peek let me know what ya think! Happy Father's Day Card & challenge!

Happy Tuesday Everyone! I hope you are all doing well today! Well we had a very busy Monday because Sunday night my middle son found a lost dog... The dog followed him all the way home and my son didn't know what to do... He and his friend were hiding in my house in the dark and I was like.... What are you guys doing? Then they told me so I told them to go and get the dog... The poor little guy was dirty and hungry and had some terrible hairball knots all over him.... I felt sooo bad for this dog and said we should hang onto him until we can find the owners.... We live in a small town so finding the owners shouldn't be to hard..... Well my hubby wanted me to keep him in our yard for the night but our warm weather has turned COLD again sooo I couldn't leave him outside.... I know dogs have fur and all but I'm a sucker when it comes to leaving an animal out in the cold... I just can't do it! Anyway, we gave him a bath yesterday and tried to remove some of the hairball knots off of him but I felt soooo bad for him that I couldn't do it... I told my hubby that if no one claims him we will pay to get his haircut done by a professional... I just couldn't get all the sticks and globs of hairballs off of him..... So we took his picture and I made some fliers to put around town.... Within 15 minutes the dogs owner was found and the owner was soooo relieved to have his dog back... we were calling him Shaggy because he looked sooo shaggy to us...but his real name is Hero and here's a picture of the cute little guy! We ended up knowing the Dog owner, he runs the Pharmacy in town and he was so kind to give us a gift certificate to his store...Which he didn't have to do, I was just happy we found the owner otherwise I would have a new dog!!! LOL I also managed to do a card today as well - the info is under the next photo..... :)

Ok This card is for my hubby for Father's day! It's going to be Sunday and I keep putting it off so I thought now would be a good time to get it done! It is also in connection to a challenge.... Stamp with Heather has a weekly sketch challenge I like doing... They are fairly simple and fun - Here's the link to the Sketch:

Ok.. Heather always says to interpret the sketch the way you see it... Soooo I saw it as a Joy Fold card! I used DCWV Natural Stack and I used my new Stampin' Up Stamp (Motorcycle) and the sentiment is computer generated.... and there you have it a Challenge and a Father's Day card all wrapped up in one!
Please feel free to leave a comment and thanks for taking a peek!

Hello ALL!!!

Hi everyone.... Happy Monday!!! Sorry I haven't posted since Wednesday... First I couldn't log into the Cricut Messageboard ALL week so I was a bit stressed over that and then I decided to work on my stamps... Not in a crafty way either! :) I have tons, and tons of Stampin' Up Wood Mounted stamps that take up a lot of room in my scraproom or Woman cave as I like to call it! :) and I have been trying different ways to shrink my large stamp stash without getting rid of them.... I've watched several youtube videos and decided to remove the rubber from my wood mounts and use Aleene's Tack-it over & over Adhesive for the backing to use with my acrylic blocks.... So far it is working out great... except that I have tons and tons of stamps! hehehe
So it is a time consuming chore for me.... I did get 16 stamp sets done last night alone.... but again very time consuming... you can certainly see the difference of my storage space from what I had to what I have done now..... and I'm liking the new style of my stamps so I will try to do only a few stamps at a time so I can spend my favorite time making cards! I have NOOOO Card today (SORRY) :(
But I will be back bright and early tomorrow with at least 1 card! Try and have a Wonderful day and I'll keep chugging along with my new project of stamp organizing! :)

INSPIRATION!!!

Happy Wednesday Everyone! I hope you are all having a wonderful day! I wanted to show you a card I made last night... I was inspired by a card my Mom made for me! I got my mother into card making and I have to say she can make some pretty great cards! I'm happy that she likes doing it and that we have something in common that we can talk about! :) Inspiration comes from all over and that's one of the great things about card making or scrapbooking or just any type of crafting... I love doing all those great sketches out there in the "Internet world"! and I love getting an idea from a shirt my son happens to be wearing... But I do enjoy taking a card that was either given to me or a card I've seen somewhere that just spoke to me and making it or changing it to make it my own... And well that's what I did last night... when my mom gave me this card on Mother's day...I really loved how it came out...I thought she did a wonderful job on this card and I wanted to "CASE" it the minute I seen it... Soooo without further ado here is the card my MOM made! :)

I love the flowers she used on this card and the layering and I just thought WOW Mom this looks great! :)
So after admiring it for awhile (6 weeks) LOL I finally decided to make my interpretation of her card... So scroll down a little more to see what I made! :)

Here is my card... I really like how mine came out... I will give you the recipe on this card!
Cardstock - Riding Hood Red, Chocolate Chip, So Saffron (Stampin' Up)
Designer Paper - The Crafty Stack (DCWV)
Cricut Cartridge - George and basic shapes
Button - Stampin' Up
Ok these are the measurements.... The Card is an A2 size card which is 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 in the red, then the chocolate chip layer is 5 1/4 x 4, the Designer Paper layer is 5 x 3 3/4
The center layer is the So saffron (yellow) color and it is 2 x 5 1/4, then the Designer paper which looks like stitching is 1 7/8 x 5, The square shaped layers are as follows.. Brown layer 3 x 3 1/4, then the red is 3 1/8 x 2 7/8, then another brown layer at 2 3/4 x 2 5/8, and then the Designer paper is 2 1/2 x 2 3/8...
The flowers are all made with the DCWV paper stack too.. these are the sizes I cut out using my design studio... 3 1/4", 2 1/2", 1 1/2"... Now I used the Shift Shadow flower button and the reason I used the Design Studio is because that feature gives you a flower with 2 markings in the center of the flowers... like to slide ribbon through or something of that nature... well of course I didn't want that so I used the hide contour feature in my DS to remove those when they cut out....
Lastly I used a red button from my Stampin' Up stash and then I inked the button in the riding hood red color... let that dry and then I use some twine as the thread for the button.... I also used lots of Dimensionals on this card for all the layers... soooo all the flowers are on dimensionals and so is the first square layer... lots of popping going on with this card...... Thanks for taking a peek - let me know what you think! :)
Have a Wonderful day everyone!

Another card!

Happy Tuesday Morning everyone! I'm soooo super excited about the announcement for the brand NEW Cricut Lite Cartridges! I only found out about them on Sunday Morning around 2am from the Cricut Message board..... I think Walmart made a big boo-boo when some of the stores had put them out before Provo Craft could announce them.... and Now Provo Craft is going too this Thursday! And then we get another Hello Thursday on the 17th.... How exciting is that! :) All the blogs are buzzing and people are working hard to get the info out.... I know there are a couple of those Cartridges I would like to have, but.....
I don't like the cost of $39 for 1... That's a bit high for just 50 images on a cartridge.... :) Sooo we shall see what's going to happen... :) Onto today's card... This is a sketch from Splitcoast stampers #281... It was fairly simple to make but has an elegant feel to it.... :)
Have a Wonderful day Everyone and I'll be back tomorrow with another card for ya! :)
Theresa

Here is the recipe for this card:
Cardstock: Soft Suede, Sahara Sand, Baja Breeze (Stampin' Up)
Designer Paper: DCWV Linen Stack (love this stack)
Punch: Oval & Scallop Oval (Stampin' Up)
Sentiment: Computer Generated

Happy Tuesday Everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend... I spent most of the weekend cleaning my scraproom... I clean it every 3 months when I feel I need a change... I know you guys probably think that's "CRAZY" but it helps me be more creative that way... :) Anyway, I thought I would start out this week with a Challenge from Mojo Monday! I truly love their sketches... they are soooo super talented over there! The choice was to either do a Round Card or a Square Card or BOTH! Well I chose to do a square card....

I made this Masculine Square Card for my Nephew who joined the Navy....His Birthday is June 6th and he leaves for his basic training on June 23rd.... My Square card is 4 3/4 x 4 3/4 and I used Chocolate Chip and Basic Black Cardstock, then I used  the DCWV Natural Stack. I used an EKSuccess Edge Punch and The Stamp set from Stampin' Up called "Starring You". I also used the Star punches from SU and the little star is actually a copper foil color but I could not get a good picture for the life of me! :) Ribbon is also SU Chocolate Chip and I used nestabilities for the circles.... Thanks for taking a looking have a wonderful day! :)
